Get To Know - The Filmmaker

Sometimes in life, moments are best shared in the absence of technology, just taking it all in, absorbing the emotion, the surroundings, the elements and the people. There are, however, many times in life where you wish somebody had captured your special moment, allowing the memory to remain digitally eternal. It is when you have the latter, that you should have Abby Brennan around.

In current times, technology has allowed even the most techno-phobic of us to at least 'record' our lives, either by photo or film. But what Abby has well and truly mastered, is the ability to capture every emotion, every laugh, every tear within her work. Watch any of Abby's work and you'll finish the video feeling like you've lived every second of it yourself. So without further-a-do, check out Abby's answers to our 10 questions to understand more about the Wirral born Spielberg.

Film Maker - Abby Brennan

What does the word ‘home’ mean to you?

I think home is a state of mind more than a location. Give me a night full of friends and wholesome chats and dinner tables surrounded by family, that would be home. Bike rides to watch the sunrise, this would be home too. I think it’s about finding comfort in life and taking it wherever you go.

Proudest moment?

I’ve worked on a lot of amazing projects and achieved a lot of great things in life but I feel like my proudest moment is still yet to come.

Who would you like to meet for dinner if you could?

Casey Neistat because of where he came from and what he built - and he just seems like an all-round really great guy.

If you would get another tattoo what would it be?

There’s loads of tattoos on my list to get next. I’m a firm believer of not taking them too seriously. If a moment has affected you or a person has moved you, why not get a permanent memento of that.

If money wasn’t a concern, what would your world look like?

My world would be full of new people and new stories. I’d shoot documentaries all day, every day.

You get one text...maximum 150 characters, it's going to everyone in the world, what does it say?

You matter. Remember your actions in the world matter. It’s important in everything you do to show love, compassion and humility.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

For me it would have to be Greenland. I’m definitely a warm blooded animal. Plus, being able to shoot there would be absolutely incredible.

If you started an activist group, what would it fight for?

Equality for all humans. The fact that we live in the 21st Century and there’s people without a warm bed and a hot meal is incomprehensible to me.

If you could control your dreams, what would you dream about?

I’d go back to all the people I’ve lost and spend another night with each one of them.

Which brand represents you best?

Nike always want to tell the untold stories and look for empowerment in unusual places and that’s what I want to do. Every time I see a piece of their content, it sets a fire in my belly - that’s when you know you’re doing something right.
